Lavon Fisher-Wilson is set to join the cast of Newsies in the role of Medda Larkin beginning September 11 at the Nederlander Theatre.

With music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Jack Feldman and a book by Harvey Fierstein, Newsies tells the story of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy who dreams of a better life far from the hardship of the streets.

Fisher-Wilson, who has previously appeared on Broadway in Lysistrata Jones, Chicago, and The Color Purple, will be replacing Capathia Jenkins.

Also joining the cast this week are Nicholas Lampiasi and Jake Lucas, who will alternate the role of Les.
