Performances begin tonight of Trinity Rep's world-premiere production of Lauren Yee's The Song of Summer. Directed by Taibi Magar, the production will run through April 14, with opening night set for Monday, March 18.

The Song of Summer is, according to a press release, "about who is behind the song that's on everyone's playlist and what happens when the hit song's singer runs away from his headlining world-tour just to return to his hometown."

Charlie Thurston, Anne Scurria, Joe Wilson Jr., Tina Chilip, and William Derby will star in the production. The creative team will include Adam Rigg (set design), Valérie Thérèse Bart (costume design), Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew (lighting design), and Mikaal Sulaiman (sound design), with an original song by Max Vernon and Helen Park.
