Lindsay will reprise her performance as Glinda in the blockbuster musical.
Beginning November 1, Kara Lindsay will return to the role of Glinda in Broadway's long-running musical Wicked.
Lindsay previously performed the role of Glinda in the 2015 Broadway company and national tour of Wicked and was featured in the original Broadway cast of Newsies as Katherine. Her performance in Newsies, alongside other original cast members, was recently recorded at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre to be released in cinemas in 2017.
Also beginning her run in Wicked on November 1 will be Sheryl Lee Ralph, who takes over for Judy Kaye in the role of Madame Morrible. Lindsay and Ralph join a cast that currently includes Jennifer DiNoia as Elphaba, Michael Campayno as Fiyero, Peter Scolari as the Wizard, Dawn E. Cantwell as Nessarose, Michael Genet as Dr. Dillamond, and Zachary Noah Piser as Boq. The role of Glinda is currently being played by Carrie St. Louis, who will give her final performance on Broadway on Sunday, October 30.
Based on the novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is set in the land of Oz and tells the story of young girls Glinda and Elphaba, who grow up to become Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively.
Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, Wicked is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento. The Broadway production opened October 30, 2003, making it currently the 10th-longest-running production in Broadway history.
