Marina will take place at Little Island.

The Whitney Museum of American Art and Little Island will debut Marina, a new performance by Emmy nominee Julio Torres and Martine Gutierrez, commissioned for Whitney Biennial 2026. Performances will take place at Little Island August 27-29.
In this under the sea story directed and written by Torres, Gutierrez stars as Marina, a New York City seawench on a journey of romance and self-discovery. When a construction worker flings his phone into the water, Marina discovers the phone, connects with someone online, and becomes entangled with the world above.
The production includes scenic design by Griffin Stoddard, a score by Lia Ouyand Rusli, choreography by Ryan McNamara, puppets and props by Camille Labarre, costume design by Erik Bergrin, lighting design by Yuki Nakase Link, sound design by Christopher Darbassie, video design by André Azevedo Sweet, and makeup design by Nina Carelli.
Whitney Biennial 2026 is the 82nd edition of the Museum’s exhibition series and the longest-running survey of American art.
