Jewish Plays Project Announces 2015 Open: Festival Reading Series

The Jewish Plays Project (JPP), a development organization committed to putting bold, progressive Jewish conversations on world stages, will hold its annual Open: Festival of New Jewish Theater at the 14th Street Y from June 26-29. The festival of play readings has been running since 2012 and offers casting, production advice, dramaturgical support, and more to its creative teams.

The reading series schedule is as follows:

Mitzvah
By David Hein and Irene Sankoff, directed by Marc Bruni (Beautiful — The Carole King Musical).
Friday, June 26, and Saturday, June 27, at 7pm.
Featuring Jodi Beckwith, Adam Dorfman, David Hein, Philip Hoffman, and Irene Sankoff.

By Sam Lahne, directed by Jessi Hill.
Saturday, June 27, at 2pm.
Featuring J. Clint Allen, Michael Braun, Polly Lee, Allyson Morgan, and Jonathan Randell Silver.

The Place We Built
By Sarah Gancher, directed by Ben Kamine.
Sunday, June 28, at 2pm.
Featuring Clea Alsip, Dominique Brillon, Ella Dershowitz, Michael Hinkle, Lindsley Howard, Alex Hurt, Mark Junek, Rory Kulz, Jo Mei, Tara Pacheco, and Andrea Syglowski.

Belfast Kind
By Margot Connolly, directed by David Winitsky.
Sunday, June 28, and Monday, June 29 at 7pm.
Featuring Kirrilee Berger, Matthew Boston, Helen Coxe, Anne Gibbons-Brown, Betsy Hogg, Jake Horowitz, and Schuyler Press.

Diaspora
By Gary Jaffe, directed by Blaze Teicher.
Monday, June 29, at 2pm.
Featuring Karen Alvarado, Crystal Arnette, Varin Ayala, Noelle Franco, Deb Margolin, & Andrew Rincon.
