Last night, during the second night of the 2018 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, NBC's Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert won five awards, including one for Outstanding Variety Special (Live). As previously reported, the win launches Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice, and John Legend — all executive producers — into the ranks of EGOT winners.

The show also won Emmys for lighting design, production design, sound mixing, and technical direction. The remainder of the 70th Annual Emmy Awards winners will be announced on Monday, September 17 on NBC.

Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert, a staged version of the original rock musical that aired on April 1, was executive-produced by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Tim Rice, Marc Platt, the late Craig Zadan, Neil Meron, John Legend, Mike Jackson, Ty Stiklorius, and Alex Rudzinski. The production was helmed by British theater director David Leveaux. The cast included Legend as Jesus, Brandon Victor Dixon (Hamilton) as Judas, Sara Bareilles (Waitress) as Mary Magdalene, and Alice Cooper as King Herod.
