Scott Elliott will direct Eisenberg’s play.
Jesse Eisenberg is set to star in the New Group's world-premiere production of The Spoils, a new play written by and featuring Eisenberg.
Kunal Nayyar (The Big Bang Theory) joins Eisenberg in the production, the third in the New Group’s current 20th anniversary season. Scott Elliott will direct.
Previews are set to begin May 7, in advance of an opening night on June 2. A limited off-Broadway engagement is slated through June 28 at the Pershing Square Signature Center.
In The Spoils, Ben's been kicked out of grad school, is living off his parents’ money, and bullies everyone in his life, including his roommate Kalyan, an earnest Nepalese immigrant. The play is described as "a deeply personal and probing comedy." Additional casting will be announced soon.
An Academy Award-nominated actor, Eisenberg's most recent work is The Revisionist, which he starred in along with Vanessa Redgrave. His other work includes Asuncion, which has been produced by Rattlestick at the Cherry Lane Theatre.
