The Geffen Playhouse has announced full casting for its upcoming production of Eugene O’Neill’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Long Day's Journey Into Night. Previews are set to begin January 31 in advance of a February 8 opening. The show will run through March 18.

Directed by Jeanie Hackett, the cast will be led by Emmy nominee Jane Kaczmarek (Malcolm in the Middle) and Tony nominee Alfred Molina (Red), who play Mary Cavan Tyrone and James Tyrone, respectively. Joining them will be Angela Goethals (Picnic) as Cathleen, Stephen Louis Grush (Sex with Strangers at the Geffen) as James Tyrone, Jr., and Colin Woodell as Edmund Tyrone.

O’Neill’s semi-autobiographical play pulls back the curtain on the Connecticut home of the Tyrone family, where deep-seated resentments and bourbon-fueled tirades cause a family to expose their darkest natures. He paints the powerful and heart-rending portrait of a single day that begins as any other, only to become a night from which they will never recover. The Roundabout Theatre Company produced a Broadway revival in 2016, starring Gabriel Byrne and Jessica Lange, which earned a Tony nomination for Best Revival of a Play.

The creative team for the Geffen production includes scenic designer Tom Buderwitz, costume designer Denitsa Bliznakova, lighting designer Elizabeth Harper, and projection designer Jason H. Thompson. Original music and soundscape is composed by Michael Roth.
