Prince of Broadway, a musical celebrating the six-decade career of producer-director Harold Prince, is on track for a production on the Great White Way during the 2017-18 season of Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

The New York Post first reported the news, which was later confirmed to TheaterMania by Manhattan Theatre Club artistic director Lynne Meadow. In a statement, Meadow said, "I can confirm that I am indeed hoping and intending that the Broadway premiere of Prince of Broadway, a new musical celebrating the career of legendary director/producer Harold Prince will open Manhattan Theatre Club’s 17-18 season at our Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. My partner Barry Grove and I are still finalizing details. I look forward to sharing more information about this exciting production in an upcoming announcement."

Prince of Broadway, which features words and music from many of the shows that have earned Prince his record 21 Tony Awards, has a book by two-time Tony Award nominee David Thompson (The Scottsboro Boys), codirection and choreography by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman (Bullets Over Broadway), and direction by Prince. The show looks at the circumstances and fortune that led to Prince creating some of the most enduring and beloved theater works of all time, including West Side Story, Fiddler on the Roof, Cabaret, and The Phantom of the Opera.

The show premiered in Japan in 2015, with a cast that included Josh Grisetti (Something Rotten!), Tony Award winner Shuler Hensley (Sweet Charity), Ramin Karimloo (Anastasia), Nancy Opel (Honeymoon in Vegas), Bryonha Marie Parham (After Midnight), Emily Skinner (Side Show), Mariand Torres (Wicked), Kaley Ann Voorhees (The Phantom of the Opera), Tony Yazbeck (On the Town), and Reon Yuzuki (former Top Star of the Takarazuka Revue Company's Star Troupe).
