Performances begin November 27.

George Abud and Lilli Cooper have join the cast of the off-Broadway revival of Spring Awakening, which is set to begin preview performances November 27 at Studio Seaview ahead of an official opening December 17. Abud and Cooper will play adult man and adult woman, respectively.
Cooper made her Broadway debut at the age of 16, originating the role of Martha in the original production of Spring Awakening. She was nominated for a 2019 Tony Award for her performance in Tootsie. Abud was last seen on Broadway in Lempicka, playing the role of the maniacal futurist Marinetti.
Written by Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik, Spring Awakening is a musical adaptation of Frank Wedekind’s 1891 drama about German teenagers discovering sex in an extremely repressive society. It won the 2006 Tony Award for Best musical and was revived on Broadway in 2015.
Danya Taymor directs this new off-Broadway revival, with choreography by Celia Rowlson-Hall, and music supervision by Or Matias.
In addition to Abud and Cooper, the cast includes Jack Bateman as Georg, Jada Simone Clark as Thea, Leif Coomer as Ernst, Ryo Kamibayashi as Moritz, Ashlyn Maddox as Wendla, Nando Morland as Otto, Antonio Porciello as Hanschen, Khadija Sankoh as Martha, Grace Slear as Anna, Tyler Jordan Wesley as Melchior, and Amalia Yoo as Ilse.
