Drew Gehling to Play the Dentist in Little Shop of Horrors

Gehling will replace replace Bryce Pinkham in the role at the Westside Theatre.

Broadway star Drew Gehling, recently of Almost Famous, will join the off-Broadway cast of Little Shop of Horrors as Dr. Orin Scrivello D.D.S. He begins performances March 14 at the Westside Theatre, replacing Bryce Pinkham.

Gehling joins the previously announced Maude Apatow as Audrey and Matt Doyle as Seymour. Apatow is set to appear on tonight on NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, along with a surprise guest.

The Faustian tale of an assistant florist who comes under the sway of a bloodthirsty plant, Little Shop of Horrors features a book and lyrics by Grammy and Academy Award winner Howard Ashman, and music by Tony and Academy Award winner Alan Menken. The Westside Theatre mounting returns the beloved musical to its roots, having premiered off-Broadway in 1982 before being revived on Broadway in 2003 and at New York City Center in 2015. Tony winner Michael Mayer directs.

The cast additionally features Tony nominee Brad Oscar as Mushnik, Aaron Arnell Harrington as The Voice of Audrey II, Tiffany Renee Thompson as Crystal, Khadija Sankoh as Chiffon, D’Kaylah Unique Whitley as Ronnette, Camryn Hampton, Weston Chandler Long, Chelsea Turbin, Teddy Yudain, Zakiya Baptiste, Jon Hoche, Jonothon Lyons, Noel MacNeal, Jeff Sears, Evan Alexander Smith, and Melissa Victor.
