David Garrison to Join Cast of Kid Victory at the Vineyard Theatre
Tony nominee David Garrison will join the cast of Kid Victory at the Vineyard Theatre for its final week of performances, starting March 14. The show began previews February 1 in advance of a February 22 opening, and ends its limited engagement March 19. Garrison replaces Daniel Jenkins, who returns to the cast of Oslo for the Broadway production.
Garrison was previously seen on the Vineyard stage in Middletown and Eight Days Backwards. His Broadway credits include A Day in Hollywood / A Night in the Ukraine (Tony nomination), Wicked, Titanic, The Visit, Torch Song Trilogy, The Pirates of Penzance, and Bells Are Ringing. On television, he's best known for playing Steve Rhoades on Married With Children.
In Kid Victory, 17-year-old Luke returns to his small Kansas town after a wrenching one-year absence. As his friendship grows with the town misfit, Emily, his parents realize that in order to truly find their son, they must confront some unnerving truths about his disappearance. The musical boasts book and lyrics by Greg Pierce, music by four-time Tony winner John Kander, and a story by Kander and Pierce.
The cast currently features Ann Arvia, Joel Blum, Laura Darrell, Jeffry Denman, Brandon Flynn, Daniel Jenkins, Dee Roscioli, Tony Award winner Karen Ziemba, and Blake Zolfo.
The musical includes choreography by Christopher Windom, scenic design by Tony Award winner Clint Ramos, costumes by Jacob A. Climer, lighting by David Weiner, and sound design by Tony nominee Peter Hylenski. David Loud serves as music supervisor, Michael Starobin as orchestrator, and Jesse Kissel as music director.
