Columbia Records will release the soundtrack recording of the first season of the new NBC series Smash. The show is scheduled to begin mid-season, airing on Mondays, 10-11pm ET. Additional details about the album will be announced in the near future.
Smash, which will feature original songs by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman, as well as popular hits, centers on the artists involved with creating a Broadway musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. The cast will feature Debra Messing, Katharine McPhee, Anjelica Huston, Christian Borle, Megan Hilty, Brian D’Arcy James, and Jack Davenport.
