Classic Stage Company has announced that its new production of Bertolt Brecht’s Mother Courage and Her Children will push back its date for resumed performances from tonight to January 12. The additional days will give new star Kecia Lewis time for rehearsal.

As previously announced, Lewis began rehearsal earlier this week after agreeing to replace Tonya Pinkins, who played her final performance on January 3, in the title role. Mother Courage and Her Children is directed by Brian Kulick and features original music by Tony Award winner Duncan Sheik. The show will now have its official opening Tuesday, January 19.

The cast of Mother Courage and Her Children also includes Joshua Boone, Curtiss Cook Jr., Jamil A. C. Mangan, Kevin Mambo, Jacob Ming-Trent, Geoffrey Owens, Michael Potts, Deandre Sevon, Mirirai Sithole and Zenzi Williams. Set design is by Tony Straiges, costume design by Toni-Leslie James, lighting design by Justin Townsend and sound design by Matt Stine.
