Christmas Week Cancellations: Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, Hadestown, and More

Here is an aggregated list of the cancellations on and off-Broadway.

A number of Broadway and off-Broadway productions have announced performance cancellations due to the detection of Covid cases among their companies. The following is an ongoing list of the productions that have altered their schedules through the holidays.

Ain't Too Proud — The Life and Times of the Temptations– Performances have been canceled through December 27 with plans to return for the 7pm performance on Tuesday, December 28.

Aladdin– Performances have been canceled through December 28, with plans to return for the 7pm performance on Wednesday, December 29.

David Byrne's American Utopia– Performances on December 23 at 5pm and 9pm have been canceled.

Come From Away– Resuming performances on Sunday, December 26.

Dear Evan Hansen– Performances have been canceled through December 26, with plans to resume Monday, December 27.

Flying Over Sunset– Lincoln Center Theater has cancelled the December 25 matinee and evening performances (2pm and 8pm) and the December 26 matinee (1pm). Performances are expected to resume Tuesday, December 28 at 7pm.

Hadestown– Performances have been canceled through December 27.

Hamilton– Performances have been canceled through December 26.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child– Performances have been canceled through December 27, with plans to resume on Tuesday, December 28.

Jagged Little Pill– The musical played its final performance on December 17. Shows had been canceled from December 18-21 when the production announced it would not be reopening.

The Lion King has canceled performances through Monday, December 27. Performances are scheduled to resume on Tuesday, December 28 at 7PM.

MJ– Preview performances have been canceled through December 28, with plans to resume Wednesday, December 29.

Six– Performances have been canceled through Tuesday, December 28, due to Covid cases. Performances are expected to resume on Wednesday, December 29.

Tina: The Tina Turner Musical– Performances are expected to resume on Christmas Day at 8pm.

Waitress– The show has ended its run following detection of Covid-19 among the company. It was originally scheduled to close on January 9, 2022.

Skeleton Crew– The production was originally scheduled to begin preview performances December 21. Performances will now begin December 27, with the play's official opening moved from January 12 to January 19, 2022.

Thoughts of a Black Man– The show announced on December 23 that it had closed. Its final performance was December 22.

Is There Still Sex In The City?, starring Candace Bushnell, has closed following Bushnell testing positive for Covid-19. The off-Broadway solo show officially played its last performance on December 19.

Alex Edelman: Just For Us– The show will be dark beginning December 22 and resume performances on January 24, 2022, for an extended run through February 19, 2022.

The Streets of New York– Irish Rep has canceled performances through December 26, with plans to resume December 27.

Trevor: The Musical– The off-Broadway musical canceled its final two weeks of performances, playing its final show on December 19.

As of Wednesday, December 22, Theatre Row has closed immediately out of an abundance of caution following positive Covid-19 cases on site. Winnie The Pooh: The New Musical Stage Adaptation has canceled all performances until December 26. Santa's Sing-A-Long's limited holiday run has ended five performances early due to the venue closure.
