The thought-provoking new comedy begins this evening.
Choice, a new play by Winnie Holzman, starts its world-premiere run tonight at Huntington Theatre Company.
Zipporah Zunder is a successful journalist about to embark on a story about a new and polarizing social phenomenon. However, the assignment proves to be more than she bargained for as it transforms her understanding of herself, her past, and her future, and she is presented with all the layers that can exist inside a single choice.
Written by Holzman, who garnered a Drama Desk Award and a Tony nomination for writing the book for Wicked, the play is directed by Sheryl Kaller and features Ken Cheeseman as Mark/The Other Mark, Johanna Day as Zippy, Munson Hicks as Clark, Connie Ray as Erica, Raviv Ullman as Hunter, and Madeline Wise as Zoe, Leah, or Lena.
"This play has been alive in my imagination for a while now, and the Huntington seems to me the perfect place to have it realized for the first time. I am thrilled and grateful for this opportunity," said Holzman.
The creative team includes James Noone (scenic design), Mariann Verheyen (costume design), Rui Rita (lighting design), Leon Rothenberg (sound design), and Jeremiah Mullane (stage manager).
Performances will run through November 15.
