Casting has been announced for a re-imagined version of Igor Stravinsky’s The Soldier’s Tale, to run November 11 – December 18 at the Aurora Theatre. Tom Ross and Muriel Maffre will co-direct the production, which will have choreography by Maffre and musical direction by Mary Chun.
The piece, which has a libretto by Donald Pippin based on Charles Ferdinand Ramuz’s original and arrangements by Jonathan Khuner, is adapted from a Russian folk tale about a soldier who makes a deal with the devil, trading his fiddle for a book that predicts the future. The company will feature L. Peter Callender and Joan Mankin.
