Full cast and creative team information has been announced for The Irish…And How They Got That Way, to play the Kimmel Center’s Innovation Studio, March 5-29, with an official opening on March 10. Megan Nicole O’Brien will direct.
Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author and playwright Frank McCourt, the musical production tells the story of the Irish experience both on the Emerald Isle and here in America. It is a story told through the songs of Ireland, from such immortals as “Danny Boy” and “The Rose of Tralee” to the works of George M. Cohan and modern-day Irish rockers U2.
The cast — who handle performance, vocals and instrumentation — is led by music director Daniel Kazemi, and includes Bennett Dunn, Sarah Gliko, Jonathan Shade, and Phoebe Silva. The creative team will include Adam Riggar (set), Shelley Hicklin (lighting), Mary Folino (costumes), and Mark Valenzuela (sound).
