Broadway veteran Amy Spanger in set to return to the role of Roxie Hart in Broadway's Chicago, the part in which she made her 2002 Broadway debut. Spanger will perform in three limited engagements — October 6-26, November 3-16, and December 1-21.

Spanger will take over the role of Roxie while Bianca Marroquin, who currently plays the part, goes on the road in the musical's 16th national touring production, set to play New Orleans (October 6-12), Nashville (October 21-26), and San Francisco (November 7-16), with more to come.

Featuring classic tunes by John Kander and Fred Ebb, Chicago tells the story of Roxie Hart, a nightclub dancer who murders her on-the-side lover after he threatens to walk out on her. Desperate to avoid conviction, she dupes the public, the media, and her rival cellmate, Velma Kelly, by hiring Chicago's slickest criminal lawyer to transform her crime into a barrage of sensational headlines.

In addition to Chicago, Spanger's Broadway credits include the original casts of Elf, Rock of Ages, and The Wedding Singer. She also originated the role of Susan in Jonathan Larson's tick, tick… Boom!
