The Sondheim muse will attend a screening of ”Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened”.
Two-time Tony-winning Broadway legend Bernadette Peters will host a Q&A session following one of the first public screenings of Best Worst Thing That Ever Could Have Happened.
Directed by Lonny Price (who will field questions during the Q&A), the documentary offers a behind-the-scenes look into the then and now of Stephen Sondheim's beloved musical Merrily We Roll Along. The screening will be held at 7:30pm on Friday, November 18, at at IFC Center (323 Sixth Avenue).
Peters’ association with Merrily composer Stephen Sondheim includes her Tony-nominated performance as the original Dot in Sunday in the Park With George, her performance as the original Witch in Into the Woods, and her Tony-nominated turn as Rose in the 2003 revival of Gypsy. She also took over the role of Desiree Armfeldt in the 2009 revival of A Little Night Music. Peters won Tony Awards for her performances in Annie Get Your Gun and Song and Dance, and earned a special Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award in 2012.
