Ben Davis Is Hadestown's Next Hades

Ben Davis, a Tony honoree for La Bohème, will join the cast of the Tony Award-winning best musical Hadestown on Tuesday, September 1. He joins the previously announced new principal company members Jasmin Savoy Brown as Eurydice, two-time Tony Award winner Norbert Leo Butz as Hermes, Tony Award nominee Amber Iman as Persephone, and Kayko as Orpheus.

Geno Segers was originally announced to play Hades, but after backlash about his casting due to resurfaced social media videos Segers made about transgender people, producers announced that he would no longer join the production.

The new cast members will join Kelly Belarmino, KC Dela Cruz, and Khori Michelle Petinaud as the Fates, and Emily Afton, Malcolm Armwood, Jeffrey Cornelius, Sydney Parra, and Alex Puette as the chorus of Workers, with swings Brandon Cameron, Tara Jackson, Max Kumangai, and Alex Lugo.

Hadestown, which originated as Anaïs Mitchell’s indie theater project and album, is in its eighth year on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre.
