BCEFA Announces Broadway Bares: Pleasure Park

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS returns for another year of its Broadway burlesque fundraising event.

Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS has announced this year’s Broadway Bares fundraising event will be Broadway Bares: Pleasure ParkThe annual Broadway burlesque will be held at 9:30pm and midnight on Sunday, June 18, at the Hammerstein Ballroom.

Press materials describe the show as follows: “Explore a theme park like no other as Broadway Bares pulls out all the stops in a full-out evening of burlesque production numbers…Pleasure Park-goers will find unrivaled fantasy lands, animal queendoms and magic kinkdoms that will leave you dreaming of a fast pass for more.”

Broadway Bares: Pleasure Park is produced by and benefits Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. The evening will help provide meals and medication, health care and hope to people across the country living with HIV/AIDS or facing other life-threatening illnesses and personal crises. This year’s two performances will feature over 190 dancers and special Broadway guest stars.

Laya Barak will return to direct the production, joined by co-director Kellen Stancil, dance captain at Broadway’s The Lion King. Jonathan Lee serves as associate director. with Mitchell and Nick Kenkel serving as executive producers. Additional choreographers include John Alix, Mike Baerga, Nicholas Cunningham, Chloe Davis, Armando Farfan Jr., Billy Griffin, Amber Jackson, Monica Kapoor, Bo Park, and Michael Lee Scott.

Last year’s 30th anniversary edition of Broadway Bares raised $1.9 million, bringing Broadway Bares’ lifetime total to more than $21 million for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.
