A one-week extension has been announced for the world premiere of Pulitzer Prize winner Annie Baker's John, which will kick off Signature’s 25th-anniversary season. The production is set to begin performances July 22 and open August 11 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center. It will now run through September 6. Tony Award winner Sam Gold (Fun Home), who also directs Baker's The Flick, helms the production

The first play of Baker's Signature residency, John is described as follows:

"The week after Thanksgiving. A bed-&-breakfast in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. A cheerful innkeeper. A young couple struggling to stay together. Thousands of inanimate objects, watching."

The cast features Christopher Abbott (HBO's Girls) as Elias, Hong Chau (A to Z) as Jenny, five-time Emmy Award nominee Georgia Engel (The Mary Tyler Moore Show) as Mertis, and Tony Award nominee Lois Smith (Signature's The Illusion) as Genevieve.

The design team includes Mimi Lien (scenic design), Ásta Bennie Hostetter (costume design), Mark Barton (lighting design), and Bray Poor (sound design).
