Alan Palmer will present his solo show, Alan Palmer’s Fabulous Divas of Broadway at the St. Luke Theatre, beginning February 13, with an opening set for February 27.
In the piece, which recently completed a five-month run in Los Angeles, Palmer talks about growing up in the theater business, while portraying 18 different stars of the stage, including Ethel Merman, Carol Channing, Liza Minnelli, Angela Lansbury, Julie Andrews, Judy Garland, Chita Rivera, Christine Ebersole, Patti LuPone, Sutton Foster, Kristin Chenoweth, and Beth Leavel.
The production features scenic design by Jessa Orr, costume design by C. Bucky, and lighting design by Peter Ray. Curtis Jerome provides onstage musical accompaniment.
Palmer received an L.A. Garland Award for Best Director for Inaccurate Information. His adaptation of Songs the Girls Sang, originally conceived by David Perkins, received an ADA Award for Best Choreography and an Ovation Award nomination for Best Book. As a performer, his New York credits include The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber, Bernie’s Bar Mitzvah, and Making Waves.
