Tony Award winner Alan Cumming has joined the cast of the forthcoming film Maladies, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film stars James Franco as a young actor who decides to retire due to what he believes is mental illness. The film’s cast will also include theater veterans Claire Danes and Catherine Keener.
Cumming won the Tony Award for Cabaret and also starred on Broadway in The Threepenny Opera and Design for Living. He will soon be seen on the big screen in Julie Taymor’s adaptation of The Tempest and received a 2010 Emmy Award nomination for his role as Eli Gold on CBS’ The Good Wife.
