ACT Theatre is set to present Trieu Tran’s one-man show Uncle Ho to Uncle Sam, September 7-October 7 at The Allen Theatre. Robert Egan directs.

Uncle Ho to Uncle Sam tells the story of Tran’s journey with his mother and siblings from the fall of Saigon to a Viet Cong re-education camp in the jungle, then to a refugee camp in Thailand, and, finally, to North America.

Trieu Tran has appeared in movies such as Tropic Thunder and Hancock and currently is appearing in a recurring role on HBO’s The Newsroom. His stage credits include the role of Alan Strang in Equus with George Takei and the title role of Oedipus with the Classic Greek Theatre of Oregon.

The design team will include Carey Wong (set design), Rick Paulsen (lighting design), Rose Rederson (costume design), and Brendan Hogan (sound design).
