Else Went's Degenerates Move to Playwrights Horizons Mainstage This Winter

Playwrights Horizons will move its acclaimed world premiere of Else Went’s Degenerates to its Judith O. Rubin mainstage theater for an encore run, December 22-January 24. Emma Rose Went directs

Performances began September 16 at the smaller Peter Jay Sharp Theater, where it has been extended three times, through November 8. The full cast will return for the additional run

This world premiere play about the extreme side of the epidemic of male loneliness brings audiences into a group forged around their own perceived unlovability.

In their obscure corner of the internet, the characters in Degenerates offer each other proof that the game is rigged against men. When an unexpected relationship begins to form, the consequences of these boys’ fatalism are made abundantly clear.

The cast includes Juan Arturo as Serge/Chad, Olivia Rose Barresi as Stacy, Zachary W. Desmond as Miller, Tyler Nowell Felix as Kemp, and Christopher Dylan White as Target.

The creative team includes scenic designer Mikiko Suzuki MacAdams, cosume designer Kindall Houston Almond, lighting designer Jiyoun Chang, sound designer Angela Baughman, video and projection designer S. Katy Tucker, dramaturg Sarah Lunnie, and intimacy director Willow Funkhouser.
