Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre has announced that Broadway's recent rock-musical A Night With Janis Joplin will replace the previously announced musical in development Sleeping Beauty Wakes for its 2015-16 season. Performances will run from March 25-April 17, 2016, with an official March 31 opening.

"Sleeping Beauty Wakes faced major scheduling challenges with the show’s creative team which ultimately could not be resolved," said executive producer and artistic director David Armstrong. "After much deliberation, we made the difficult decision to remove the show from our 2015-16 season. But we’re thrilled to bring A Night With Janis Joplin to our audiences and we think that the sensational performances and incredible insight into this legend’s life will be an exciting fit."

Patrons with subscriptions that include Sleeping Beauty Wakes are being automatically exchanged into performances of A Night With Janis Joplin with refunds available for those who do not wish to attend.

A Night With Janis Joplin played Broadway's Lyceum Theatre in 2013, with Tony nominee Mary Bridget Davies in the title role. The show takes audiences back to the height of Joplin's short career, where the music legend bears her soul through signature numbers like "Piece of My Heart," "Summertime," and "Cry Baby." The production also includes fanciful interludes from a few of her musical inspirations including Nina Simone, Etta James, and Aretha Franklin.
