7 Ways Broadway Reigned Supreme at Comic Con

Because theater nerds and comic book geeks are all the same deep down.

This past weekend, geeks and nerds from all over the world gathered at the Javits Center in Manhattan for the annual New York Comic Con. Being theater fans, we naturally fit into the "geeks and nerds" categories, so we also showed up there, hoping to find at least one person brave enough to cosplay as Mama Rose or Nathan Detroit. Unfortunately, we didn't find any. We did, however, see a lot of rando theater connections we didn't expect. Here are 7 of them.

1. Spider-Man, the hero of the beleaguered Broadway musical Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark, was there and posing for photos. Naturally.

2. Take a photo with John Barrowman, the hunky British musical theater leading man who starred in a couple of popular sci-fi shows on BBC.

3. It's the Italian Stallion himself, Andy Karl! (Wait, no, just Rocky Balboa.)

4. Cirque du Soleil's KÀ had its own booth with scary-looking acrobats wandering around. They fit right in.

5. Cabaret's Alan Cumming is literally everywhere.

6. Meet Paris Themmen, who played Mike Teavee in the 1971 film Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, and appeared on Broadway in The Rothschilds.
