Second Stage Theatre‘s hit revival of Jason Robert Brown’s The Last Five Years, starring Adam Kantor and Betsy Wolfe, will be preserved on a cast album, set to be released and recorded in the coming months by Ghostlight Records. The off-Broadway production has been extended three times due to overwhelming ticket demand and is currently scheduled to close on May 18.

The two-character musical follows a young couple as they fall in and out of love, from courtship to wedding to divorce, backwards and forwards in time from alternating perspectives. The musical has received more than 500 regional productions and 3,000 performances around the world, and the revival has broken box-office records at Second Stage.

Brown produces the album, along with Stacey Mindich and Sh-K-Boom/Ghostlight’s Kurt Deutsch. The 2002 original cast recording of The Last Five Years, featuring Norbert Leo Butz and Sherie Rene Scott, was the label’s first cast album and remains one of their bestselling titles. Ghostlight Records is currently producing a film version of the work starring Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan and directed by Richard LaGravenese.
