The new musical Evangeline, a Curious Journey, will have an industry presentation on Friday, March 23, at the Davenport Theatre.

Directed by Michael Chase Gosselin, the musical is written by Marylyn Varriale, with additional material by Tom Langdon. Lena Gabrielle serves as musical director.

The show is described as follows: "The legend of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's epic poem, Evangeline, is transformed into a modern-era love story that transcends time. Set in 1955, both in New York City's hectic advertising world, and in the bucolic Louisiana Bayou, Evangeline, a Curious Journey tells the story of successful filmmaker Clay Arceneaux who, despite his accomplishments, feels restless and journeys to his native Louisiana in search of his true identity. Clay's journey to St. Martinville Parish in the Bayou introduces him to the fascinating legend of Evangeline and her lifelong search for her beloved Gabriel — as well as to a newfound love in the young postulant Emmaline. Soon Clay discovers why he feels the mysterious call to the Bayou so intensely."

The company will be made up of Ben Jacoby, Eryn LeCroy, Jenny Ashman, Paul Binotto, Ethan Carlson, Laura Hall, Alex Kidder, Aline Mayagoitia, Travis Mitchell, Alexander Sanders, J.P. Sarro, Sarah Smithton, and Jeff Williams.
