Kristin Chenoweth and Idina Menzel to Host A Very Wicked Halloween on NBC
The concert tribute will take place on October 29 and feature Ariana Grande, Pentatonix, and more.
To celebrate Wicked's 15th anniversary on Broadway this October, NBC is set to present A Very Wicked Halloween: Celebrating 15 Years on Broadway on October 29 at 10pm. The televised concert will feature songs from the hit musical and will showcase many special guest stars to help celebrate the show.
A Very Wicked Halloween will reunite Tony Award winners Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth, the original Elphaba and Glinda, who will perform and serve as hosts for the special. Additional guest performers include Ariana Grande, Pentatonix, the current Broadway company of Wicked, and more to be announced.
The show will be taped at New York's Marquis Theatre and be produced by the original Wicked team, including the Tony and Emmy Award-winning Marc Platt along with Emmy Award winners Glenn Weiss and Ricky Kirshner of White Cherry Entertainment. Weiss will also serve as director.
Based on the novel of the same name by Gregory Maguire, Wicked is set in the land of Oz and tells the story of young women Glinda and Elphaba, who grow up to become Glinda the Good Witch and the Wicked Witch of the West, respectively. Featuring music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Winnie Holzman, the production is directed by Joe Mantello, with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.
