The Brooklyn Academy of Music has announced the preliminary slate of productions that will be part of its 150th anniversary season, which will include, as previously announced, a presentation in January of the Bridge Project production of Shakespeare's Richard, directed by Sam Mendes and starring Kevin Spacey.

Also on the schedule is Jean-Baptiste Lully's Baroque opera Atys, from Les Arts Florissants and Opéra Comique. The production, staged by Jean-Marie Villégier and featuring musical direction by William Christie, as well as choreography by Francine Lancelot and Béatrice Massin, will play BAM's Harvey Theatre, running September 18-24. The production, originally seen at BAM in 1989, features scenic design by Carlo Tommasi, costume design by Patrice Cauchetier, and lighting design by Patrick Méeüs.

Other offerings scheduled for BAM in the coming year include an engagement of The Merce Cumminham Legacy Tour, which will celebrate Cunningham's lifetime of artistic achievement. Among the pieces to be presented during this offering, scheduled for December, are Roartorio; Second Hand and Biped; and Pond Way, RainForest, and Split Sides.

In addition, BAM will present Philip Glass and Robert Wilson's groundbreaking opera Einstein on the Beach in the fall of 2012.
