Emmy Award Winner William Windom Has Died

Emmy Award winner and Broadway veteran William Windom died on Thursday, August 16 of congestive heart failure, according to The New York Times.

Windom appeared on Broadway in a dozen productions between 1947 and 1960, including King Henry VIII, John Gabriel Borkman, Alice in Wonderland, and Fallen Angels, as well as in regional theater.

He worked steadily in films and television, winning the Emmy in 1970 for his work in the comedy series My World and Welcome to It, based on the stories of James Thurber.

His numerous other credits included To Kill a Mockingbird, The Farmer’s Daughter, Star Trek, and Murder, She Wrote, opposite Angela Lansbury, on which he played Dr. Seth Hazlitt.

He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia, and four children, Rachel, Heather, Hope, and Rebel.
