Audra McDonald to Be Honored by PFLAG for LGBT Advocacy

Five-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald will be honored by PFLAG NYC (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays of New York City) at the organization’s 32nd annual awards gala to be held at Tribeca Three Sixty on Monday, October 15.

She will receive the PFLAG NYC “Stay Close” Leadership Award in recognition of her years advocating full equality for all lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) people and for her participation in the PFLAG NYC “Stay Close” campaign which features straight celebrities appearing with their LGBT loved ones.

McDonald won Tony Awards for her performances in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess, A Raisin in the Sun, Master Class, Ragtime, and Carousel. Among her other stage credits are 110 in the Shade, Marie Christine, and concert stagings of Passion and Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny.
