The Bandstand Completes Casting for World-Premiere Production

Laura Osnes, Corey Cott, and Beth Leavel will lead the company of the brand-new musical at Paper Mill Playhouse.

Paper Mill Playhouse has announced the complete cast and creative team for the world-premiere musical The Bandstand, set to open the New Jersey theater's 2015-16 season.

Featuring music by Richard Oberacker and a book and lyrics by Oberacker and Robert Taylor, The Bandstand follows a mismatched band of World War II veterans who join together to compete in a national radio contest in hopes of winning instant stardom.

Tony Award winner and Hamilton choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler directs the production, which is set to run from October 8-November 8.

As previously announced, the production will star Laura Osnes (Cinderella) as Julia Troy, Corey Cott (Gigi) as Donny Novitski, and Beth Leavel (The Drowsy Chaperone) as Mrs. Adams, Julia’s mother. The cast will also feature Joe Carroll (Cinderella) as Johnny Simpson, Brandon J. Ellis (Once) as Davy Zlatic, James Nathan Hopkins (What’s It All About? Bacharach Reimagined) as Jimmy Campbell, Geoff Packard (Matilda The Musical) as Wayne Wright, and Joey Pero (Jersey Boys) as Nick Radel.

Rounding out the company are Tanya Birl, Thomas Cannizzaro, Max Clayton, Daniel Cooney, Matt Cusack, Andrea Dotto, Stacia Fernandez, Marc A. Heitzman, Ryan Kasprzak, Andrew Leggieri, Lauren Mufson, Mike Nappi, Jessica Lea Patty, Jeff Pew, Keven Quillon, Corey John Snide, Emily Tate, and Mindy Wallace.

David Kreppel will serve as the show's musical director and vocal arranger alongside Bill Elliott (orchestrations) and Greg Anthony Rassen (orchestrations, dance, and incidental music arrangements). The design team will feature sets by David Korins, costumes by Paloma Young, lighting by Jeff Croiter, sound by Nevin Steinberg, and hair, wigs, and makeup by J. Jared Janas.
