Park Square Theatre in St. Paul will present the regional premiere of Michael Hollinger’s Opus, May 13-29. Mary M. Finnerty will direct the play, about a celebrated string quartet that is under tremendous stress as the musicians prepare for their White House debut.

For this production, Finnerty and her cast have been collaborating with Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra’s Principal Violinist Sabina Thatcher to gain a deeper understanding of the lives of professional musicians. In addition, members of the critically-acclaimed Parker Quartet are consulting with the actors on the very particular dynamics of a string quartet.

The cast will include Stephen D’Ambrose (Carl), Paul de Cordova (Elliot), David Mann (Alan), Emily Gunyou Halaas (Grace), and Peter Christian Hansen (Dorian).

The production team will be made up of properties designer Gunther Gullickson, scenic designer Michael Hoover, lighting designer Michael P. Kittel, sound designer C. Andrew Mayer, and costume designer Jason Lee Resler.
