Britta Ollmann to Star in Theater Latté Da’s Violet

Britta Ollmann will star in the title role in Theater Latté Da’s production of Jeanine Tesori and Brian Crawley’s Violet, to run February 26 – March 21 at the Guthrie Theatre. Peter Rothstein will direct the production, which will feature music direction by Denise Prosek.

The show, with music by Tesori and book and lyrics by Crawley, is based on The Ugliest Pilgrim, a short story by Southern writer Doris Betts. The piece focuses on a young woman, physically and emotionally scarred, who sets out on a journey to find a cure for her troubles.

The company will also feature Randy Schmeling (Monty), Maeve Moynihan (Young Violet), Dieter Bierbrauer (Father), Lynnea Doublette (Lula), Janet Hansen (Old Lady), Alan Sorenson (Preacher), and Nathaniel Irvin (Billy Dean).

The creative team will include Kalere A. Payton (costume design), Marcus Dilliard (lighting design), and Montana Johnson (sound design).
