Sam Rockwell will join Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford in Cowboys and Aliens, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Jon Favreau will direct the movie, which will begin filming in June and which features a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman, Roberto Orci, and Damon Lindelof.
The movie is based on Scott Mitchell Rosenberg’s novel of the same name and focuses on an alien invasion in the Old West. Rockwell is scheduled to play a bar owner named Doc who assists in the hunt for the extraterrestrials. The movie will also feature Olivia Wade.
Rockwell is currently starring on Broadway in A Behanding in Spokane. He can also be seen on screen as Justin Hammer in Iron Man 2, which is also directed by Favreau.
