The full cast and creative team have been announced for the West Coast premiere of The Accomplices by former New York Times political reporter Bernard Weinraub at the Fountain Theatre, July 12-August 24. Deborah LaVine will direct.

Based on the true story of Jewish activist Hillel Kook (aka Peter Bergson), the play explores what the U.S. government and American Jews did and didn’t do to help Jews fleeing the Nazis during WWII. Weinraub’s exploration centers on the involvement of historical figures such as FDR, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Breckinridge Long, and American Jewish leader Rabbi Stephen Wise.

The cast will feature Steven Schub as Peter Bergson, William Dennis Hurley as Samuel Merlin, James Harper as FDR, Brian Carpenter as Breckinridge Long, Gregory G. Giles as Sam Rosenman, Dennis Gersten as Ben Hecht, Peter Henry Schroeder as Rabbi Wise, as well as Cheryl Dooley, Kirsten Kollender, Stephen Marshall, and Donne McRae.

The creative team will include Ken Booth (lighting design), Shon LeBlanc (costume design), Travis Gale Lewis (set design), and David B. Marling (sound design).
