Bradley Cooper, Glenn Close, Emma Stone, and More Receive Oscar Nominations

Find out all of the theater vets who received 2019 nods.

Nominations for the 2019 Academy Awards were announced this morning by Kumail Nanjiani and Tracee Ellis Ross, and a number of theater favorites have found themselves newly minted Oscar nominees.

In the acting categories, nominees include stage vets Bradley Cooper for A Star Is Born and Willem Dafoe for At Eternity's Gate (both for Best Actor); Glenn Close for The Wife (Best Actress); Amy Adams for Vice, Emma Stone for The Favourite, and Rachel Weisz for The Favourite (all for Best Supporting Actress); and Mahershala Ali for Green Book, Sam Rockwell for Vice, and upcoming Burn This star Adam Driver for BlacKkKlansman (all for Best Supporting Actor).

In the creative categories, Avenue Q book writer Jeff Whitty received an Adapted Screenplay nomination with Nicole Holofcener for Can You Ever Forgive Her?, while Hairspray scribes Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman earned a Best Original Song nomination for "The Place Where Lost Things Go" from Mary Poppins Returns (Shaiman also received an Original Score nod).

The musical film Mary Poppins Returns also received nominations in the Production Design (John Myhre, Gordon Sim) and Costume Design (Sandy Powell) categories.

The Academy Awards will air on February 24 at 8pm EST on ABC.
