Tony Winner Cynthia Erivo Joins Boyfriend Dean John-Wilson at London Aladdin Opening

The Disney musical takes the West End by storm.

Days after winning the Tony Award for her performance as Celie in Broadway's The Color Purple, Cynthia Erivo flew back to London to celebrate the opening night of her boyfriend, actor Dean John-Wilson, in the new West End production of Aladdin.

John-Wilson heads the company in the title role, alongside Jade Ewan as Jasmine, Trevor Dion Nicholas as Genie, and Don Gallagher as Jafar.

Aladdin features many of the songs from the 1992 Academy Award-winning film including "A Whole New World" and "Friend Like Me", with tunes by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, Tim Rice, and Chad Begulin. It is directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholas.
