Samuel Barnett, Clare Higgins, Fiona Shaw, Harriet Walter, et al. to Appear at UK’s National Theatre

Artistic director Nicholas Hytner has announced additional plans for the 2010 -2011 seasons at the National Theatre.

Upcoming productions this season will include Hytner’s productions of Dion Boucicault’s London Assurance, with a cast including Mark Addy, Richard Briers, Simon Russell Beale, and Fiona Shaw; William Shakespeare’s Hamlet starring Rory Kinnear and Clare Higgins; and Marianne Elliott’s production of Women Beware Women, with a cast led by Harriet Walter and Samuel Barnett.

Also on tap are Richard Eyre’s production of Moira Buffini’s new play Welcome to Thebes; Michael Grandage’s production of Georg Buchner’s Danton’s Death; Andrew Upton’s production of Mikhail Bulgakov’s The White Guard; Thea Sharrock’s production of Terrence Rattigan’s After the Dance; and new plays by Mike Bartlett, Neil Bartlett and Handspring, Drew Pautz, Tasmin Oglesby, and JT Rogers, among other offerings.

In addition, Oscar winner Danny Boyle will direct a new production of Frankenstein in 2011, written by Nick Dear, and Sir Peter Hall will stage a new production of Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night starring his daughter, Rebecca Hall, as Viola.
