Broadway veteran Andrew Weems will star in the world premiere of Kenneth Lin’s Intelligence-Slave at the Alley Theatre, May 23-June 20, with an opening on May 27. Jackson Gay will direct.

The play tells the story of Curt Herzstark (Weems), a concentration camp prisoner who is being kept alive by the Nazis because he has invented the world’s first hand-held four function calculator. When he is introduced to a wunderkind member of the Hitler Youth, his plan for survival takes a different turn.

The cast will also include James Belcher as Fritz Engelhardt, Chris Hutchison as Bruno Clemens, Steven Louis Kane as Finn Frey, and Todd Waite as Hermann Pister. The design team will include Kevin Rigdon (sets and lights), Blair Gulledge (costumes), Pierre Dupree (sound), and Brian Byrnes (fight direction).

Weems has appeared on Broadway in Inherit the Wind, The Green Bird, and London Assurance. He is also the writer/performer of the solo show Namaste Man.
