Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced casting for Sarah Gubbins’ fml: how Carson McCullers saved my life, to run February 28 – March 18. Joanie Schultz will direct the production.

The show centers on a young woman in her junior year of high school in suburban LaGrange, Illinois, who discovers that she has unshakable kinship to John Singer, the central character in The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter, and finds that she identifies even more with Singer and McCullers’ work after she is a victim of a gay-bashing incident.

The company will feature Zoe Levin (Emma), Ian Daniel McLaren (Mickey), Lily Mojekwu (Ms. Delaney), Fiona Robert (Jo), and Bradley Grant Smith (Reed).

The creative team will include Chelsea Warren (scenic design) David Hyman (costume design), Lee Keenan (lighting design), Thomas Dixon (sound design) and Mike Tutaj (projections design).
