Flashback Friday: Aretha Franklin Slays a Beautiful Tribute to Carole King

Watch the late Queen of Soul perform “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” for an emotional crowd at the Kennedy Center.

The world lost the Queen of Soul yesterday with the passing of Aretha Franklin, the legendary singer and songwriter who taught us the meaning of "Respect" and picked up 18 Grammy Awards along the way.

Only one of her self-penned songs made it to Broadway ("Spirit in the Dark," which was used in the musical A Night With Janis Joplin), but every night at Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, audiences are reminded of her iconic version of "(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman" as they watch King record the song for her solo album, Tapestry.

Chilina Kennedy from the Broadway cast of Beautiful headlined the tribute to King at the 2015 Kennedy Center Honors, but instead of singing "Natural Woman" herself, she left that job to the Queen.
