Long Wharf Theatre’s Brownsville Song (B-Side for Tray) Begins Performances

Long Wharf Theatre's brownsville song (b-side for tray) begins its run tonight at the Claire Tow Stage. The story’s protagonist is an 18-year-old named Tray, a model citizen who is determined to become someone. He has a part time job, boxes at the gym, and works on writing his college essays. However, a twist of fate puts him in the wrong place at the wrong time, and a senseless act causes his death. The play shows his family wondering what might have been and presents a unique perspective on urban violence through the lens of an uncertain present but a hopeful future.

The production, written by Kimber Lee and directed by Eric Ting, features Catrina Ganey as Lena, Curtiss Cook Jr. as Tray, Kaatje Welsh as Devine, Sung Yun Cho as Merrell, and Anthony Martinez-Briggs as Junior and the Brooklyn College student.

The creative team includes Russell H. Champa (light design), Scott Bradley (set design), Toni-Leslie James (costume design), Ryan Rumery (sound design), and Kathy Snyder (stage manager).

Performances will run through April 19.
