Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced that its previously announced upcoming American premiere of Chewing Gum Dreams, a solo show written and performed by Michaela Coel, has been postponed. The show, which was scheduled to begin performances on August 12, has been suspended due to delays with immigration procedure.

"Unfortunately, due to complications with immigration procedure, Michaela Coel isn't able to enter this country in time to open her singular and brilliant show," said artistic director Mandy Greenfield in a statement. "We hope to be able to present Chewing Gum Dreams in a future Williamstown Theater Festival season."

Chewing Gum Dreams was to be performed simultaneously at the Nikos Stage with the American premiere of Mike Bartlett’s An Intervention, which will still begin performances as planned on August 12 with a run scheduled through August 23.

An Intervention features a rotating cast including Betty Gilpin, Josh Hamilton, Justin Long, and Debargo Sanyal. It is described as putting both "personal and political intervention under a magnifying glass."
