Dreamgirls Engagement at Washington D.C.’s National Theatre Canceled

The Washington, D.C. engagement of the touring production of the musical Dreamgirls, previously scheduled for July 28-August 8, has been canceled. A press statement gives the reason as “advance ticket sales have failed to meet expectations.”

The Dreamgirls tour is currently booked through January 2, 2011, and the producers of the show hope to bring it back to D.C. at a future date.

The tour is currently playing the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas, TX. Upcoming engagements include Kansas City, MO (July 20-25), Greenville, SC (August 10-15), San Francisco, CA (August 24-September 26), Atlanta, GA (October 12-17), Miami, FL (October 19-24), Nashville, TN (October 26-31), Indianapolis, IN (November 2-7), Charlotte, NC (November 9-14), Tampa, FL (November 16-21), West Palm Beach, FL (November 23-28), Memphis, TN (November 30-December 5), Buffalo, NY (December 14-19), and Detroit, MI (December 21-January 2.
