Jamie Armitage’s terrifying binaural experience comes direct from London.

Audible Theater has announced the New York debut of Jamie Armitage’s A Ghost in Your Ear, which is set to perform September 29 through November 15 at Audible’s Minetta Lane Theatre off-Broadway.
Armitage, the co-director of the smash-hit musical Six, has written and directed this play that takes place during a late-night audiobook recording sessions. As the voice actor reads the words, mysterious things begin to happen in the studio itself.
The show features cutting-edge sound design by Ben & Max Ringham (Prima Facie), which the audience experiences through individual headphones.
“Worse than any loud jump-scares, there’s nothing quite so creepy as someone unseen whispering in your ear, to the point where I’m half expecting to feel a breath on my neck,” writes WhatsOnStage critic Miriam Sallon in her review of the London premiere, adding, “That is not a suggestion, dear director, please don’t do that!”
A Ghost in Your Ear made its world premiere in January at Hampstead Theatre in a production that starred George Blagden. Casting has not yet been announced for the New York run.
In addition to the Ringham brothers, the creative team of A Ghost in Your Ear includes Anisha Fields (scenic and costume design) and Ben Jacobs (lighting design).
Audible will, of course, recorded and released the play as an Audible Original, available to millions of Audible subscribers worldwide.
